UNDERSTAND

Stage 01

Empathise

The first step is to gain an understanding of the problem that we’re trying to solve together. It means getting to know your business and your target audience. By putting aside my own assumptions, I am able to gain crucial insights that allow me to deliver superior outcomes.

Stage 02

Define

I then pull together all of the information gathered during the empathise stage, so that I can analyse my observations and use it to define the core problems that you are facing. By pinpointing the problem and your user’s needs, we are highlighting opportunities for innovation.

EXPLORE

Stage 03

Ideate

I now begin to generate a range of ideas to address the problems that we have identified together. I look for alternative ways to view the problem and find innovative solutions. No idea is too farfetched at this point and quantity supersedes quality at this stage.

Stage 04

Design & Prototype

This is where the real experimentation takes place. I identify the best possible solutions to your problems and start to flesh them out. I make the ideas tactile, iterate on them, figure out what works and what doesn’t, until I have a design that is ready to be tested.

MATERIALISE

Stage 05

Testing & Feedback

What I have designed now needs to be tested before it is implemented. Does the solution solve your problem and meet your users’ needs? Does it improve upon what went before it? Feedback here can be used to redefine the problem, allowing us to make alterations, iterate and refine the design before it is implemented.

Stage 06

Implementation

We launch the design for the world to see and put into the hands of those who really matter. Together we begin to measure the effect it is having. Is it working? Is it not working? What can we do to improve it. We then use this revisit the process, revise, iterate and improve.
